Galloway Senate testimony PDF goes AWOL

The website for the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs has removed testimony from UK MP George Galloway from its website.

George Galloway made a statement in his testimony that put a large proportion of the blame for the 'Oil for Food' scandal on the US doorstep.

Excerpt from transcript on Timesonline
"Have a look at the real Oil-for-Food scandal. Have a look at the 14 months you were in charge of Baghdad, the first 14 months when $8.8 billion of Iraq's wealth went missing on your watch. Have a look at Haliburton and other American corporations that stole not only Iraq's money, but the money of the American taxpayer.

"Have a look at the oil that you didn't even meter, that you were shipping out of the country and selling, the proceeds of which went who knows where? Have a look at the $800 million you gave to American military commanders to hand out around the country without even counting it or weighing it.

"Have a look at the real scandal breaking in the newspapers today, revealed in the earlier testimony in this committee. That the biggest sanctions busters were not me or Russian politicians or French politicians. The real sanctions busters were your own companies with the connivance of your own Government."

Mr. Galloway's testimony is a part of the official record and will be available at the Government Printing Office. An unofficial version was published by the Federal News Service and is available on Lexis.

The Senate website you've referenced is a hearing announcement. It is completed before the hearing. Mr. Galloway did not submit a written statement prior to the hearing. The hearing announcement is not intended to provide a record of the hearing. For confirmation of this, notice that the third panel is listed on the announcement, but the third panel was cancelled on the day of the hearing, and is thus not a part of the official record.

Your post is just as incorrect as the other blogs.

You wrote that "The website for the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs has removed testimony from UK MP George Galloway from its website."

Mr. Galloway's testimony could not have been removed from the Senate website because it was never on the website, because Mr. Galloway did not submit a written statement prior to hearing.

The does not take away from the impact of what he said. It just isn't necessary to suggest a conspiracy of the Senate to silence Mr. Galloway. Afterall, the Senate gave him a platform and a microphone, and his largest stage.

Sources include vnunet.com,pcw.co.uk,financialdirector.co.uk and democrats.com to name a few.

I post what I saw, my screen capture shows "Mr. Galloway did not submit a statement"

This alone has left the site for the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs itself open to interpretation.

The fact that press representatives for the committee had no comment on this subject for a number of days again left itself open to interpretation.

Now the site shows "Mr. Galloway did not submit a written statement"

The reason why the term "removed testimony" is used.

I like to point out that the other testimonies in pdf format read like a transcript, some even have in [brackets] an added description to clarify, some testimonies even show a conversation between people, this in my eyes is not a written statement but a transcript, written statements are prepared before hand and do not include 2 way conversations.

So based on the above, the conclusion is where is Mr. Galloway's?
